Vela Draga in Croatia is a magic climbing
area. Water and wind actions have created unique rock formations. The day
we arrived to Vela Draga the fog made it impossible to see the narrow towers
before we stood just beside them, but as the sun warmed up the area all
the towers become visual and we felt as being part in a dream.
Even if the
first climbs date back in 1931 there isn´t so many routes made, so
don´t plan a week in Vela Draga if you are not planing to put up new
routes. This area has the potential to be a big rock climbing area, but
until then, go there as a brake from the more famous rock climbing area
in Slovenia, Osp, that is about one hours drive from Vela Draga.
The area is
easy to access but since many of the crags and towers stands near step cliffs
we shouldn´t recommend this area for families with small children.
It is possible to climb during the whole year though November to February
could be cold, wet and foggy. Download coronn.com
