Near the famous rock climbing spot Finale Ligure in Liguria, Italy, you will find Castelbianco in the Pennavaire valley.
Even if sport climbing routes was set up 12-13 years ago the area can be regarded as brand new. During the last few years hundreds of new climbing routes has been made.
The area is beautiful and has potential to be developed to one of the biggest rock climbing areas in Europe.
Unfortunately, during 2007 five crags are closed from climbing, they are Emisfero, Enoteca, Erboristeria, La Ciusa and Reunion. Ask locals for up to date information.

With great intensity and with a lot of work the area of Castelbianco has become a new famous rock climbing area in Italy.
The area above the village Veravo, Bauso, is the older part of climbing crags in Castelbianco. The most popular crags is the hard mostly overhanging Castelbianco, the brand new area of Terminal (2005-2006) and crags on the hillside behind the computer village Colletta. Most of the routes in this area are developed during the last 4-5 years.
10 kilometres further into the Pennavaire valley you will find the village Alto with three very beautiful crags, the highlights of the whole area.

Situated near Finale Ligure the area has lot of visitors, and weekends during winter you can meet many climbers from all over the world.

In the area you will find a lot of walking tracks, easy to find and they offers beautiful walks among terraces of olives and cherry trees, and the area also offers many historical buildings.
The area offers for now almost 500 sport climbing routes.

The people behind all the hard work to make new routes regard the area as their property and it has been hard to find information for the Topos. The Topos covering the area has of this reason not all information, as many as 12% of the routes are without grades, though approximately 3% don’t yet have grades because they are for now projects.
