Breithorn has Four summits. Two of them has access on snow/ice and you can walk from one to the other in about 30 minutes. During winter and spring most of the people use ski mountaineering equipment, and in good conditions the skiing is good but short.
The TOPOS describes the route to the summit Occidentale (4165 m), the Centrale (4160 m), the Orientale (4141 m), the Breithorn Zwilling, also with the name Quota ( 4106 m) and the Rocca Nera (4075 m).
Probably The Mountain above 4000 m that is the most easy to access with an approach on snow on maximum 45 degrees of the sloop.
Visitors
in general use the ski lift system from Zermatt in Switzerland ending at 3883 m or the one from Cervinia in Italy to Testa Grigia at 3480 m. Then on skis or by foot approach on the glacier in the marked pistes to finally walk the short way over the glacier to reach the sloop of Breithorn.
In the summer the snow/ice can be hard and crampons and a axe is necessary, in seasons for ski mountaineering, normally ending in the beginning of June, skis with skins works well.
