Harthsage in Peak district and Llandudno in North Wales offers nice rock climbing, when it is not raining! Peak district offers small crags with a lot of Traditional climbing and the Sea Limestone crags in Llandudno offers superb climbing on a very beautiful spot just outside the tourist village, at week ends and holidays crowds of tourists.

You will find the rock climbing in Peak district just outside the village Harthsage, and if it is raining there is a climbing wall in Sheffield called The Foundry.
Llandudno offers some bouldering under the crag and quite a lot down by the beach, or take the car towards Llanberis to visit The Beacon indoor climbing centre if it is raining.

The U.K., Wales and Scotland has a long history of rock climbing and you will meet many skilled climbers indoor and outdoor. Great Britain rock climbing goes back to 1880th and together with the Dolomites in Italy and the Elb Sandstein in Germany the Lake district is mentioned as the first rock climbing areas in the world. Many skilled climbers comes from the island, Ron Fawcett, Joe Brown, Ben Moon, Neil Grisham among many others has made there mark on rock climbing history.

The history of rock climbing has also made some big brands well established from this area as DMM and Wild Country, both located in Llanberis in North Wales.

So, is the U.K., Wales and Scotland a place to go for climbing? Well, to be frank, No. There is so many areas that offers better weather, better food and better climbing.
